Mission SanScar ran a menstrual hygiene, sexual abuse sensitisation and anaemia awareness camp in collaboration with Myna Mahila Foundation and Doctors For You for thirty girls from Govandi and its surroundings. We also engaged in some period art, and the girls really came out of their shells!
We partnered with Just For Kicks, an organization that works in low-income and government schools through football to build leadership skills in students. We met some of their students, girls passionate about football, and conducted a fun menstrual hygiene management session with them. We also introduced them to menstrual cups and gave them away to the girls who were interested in trying them.
Mission SanScar visited the After School of Hiphop, by the Dharavi Project!
We spent some time with some really special girls at CHILDReach in Santacruz educating them about menstrual hygiene, puberty and growing up. Menstruation and development disability for adolescent girls can be much more challenging than we may presume it to be. We talked, learnt how to exercise to relieve cramp, discussed who to confide in and love ourselves a tad bit more!
