The Global Goals World Cup is the first women's activist football tournament. Team SanScar comprised a diverse group of women, from a social entrepreneur to a writer to the only female beatboxer in Dharavi, an urban slum in Mumbai, all united by the love for football and a passion to play for SDG 5, Gender Equality!
We partnered with O.R.B. Movement and our players featured their tshirts as a part of their "A Girl's Place' campaign. These tshirts carry a strong message about women in sport and the proceeds from their sale will be used to support women in football!
Team SanScar with the most amazing cheerleaders and future football stars!
We teamed up with Just For Kicks India and brought the girls to the World Cup to inspire them! They wrote inspiring messages for the team which we patched onto their jerseys!
Team SanScar in action! We played for gender equality, and our players sported capes with the message, "Anything you can do, I can do bleeding" in an attempt to kick away taboos!
Enthusiastic and passionate cheering! The day was the culmination of some serious efforts on our part for advocating for SDG 5 and menstrual hygiene!
